George Pelling was born on the farm of his parents, Lawrence Pelling and Hilda Lewin. He attended Goodrich grade school in Lisle and also St. Joseph School in Downers Grove for his communion. He led his class in the procession because he was the smallest.
George was a carpenter for Baltis Built Homes and a volunteer fireman. Residences include houses on Middaugh Avenue, Grove Street, 4819 Forest Avenue, and 5016 Wilcox, all in Downers Grove. In 1950 his wife, Anne, died after giving birth to a baby girl, Sally. Later that year, he moved with the two older girls, Karen and Donna, to the home of his mother, Hilda. His son, Robert, was in the U. S. Air Force at the time of Anne's death.
In 1962, Goerge was married to Helen Cowin, however, they separated a few months afterwards and he spent his remaining years with his sister Mabel. He died of pneumonia while hospitalized after a fall down the basement stairway.
Anna died of cerebral hemorage the day after giving birth to a daughter, Sally Ann.
